The Wasatch G7 Curves Conversion Program

Purpose

The Wasatch G7 Curves program converts a CGATS file produced by CHROMiX Curve2 or Curve3 software to a Press Curve file that can be used by Wasatch SoftRIP. Curve2 and Curve3 are used for G7 calibration. G7 calibration balances ink output so that the grayscale is neutral. Starting with Version 7.2, Wasatch SoftRIP can import Curve2 or Curve3 CGATS files directly. This Wasatch G7 pressCurves program can be used for earlier versions of Wasatch SoftRIP or as an alternative import method for Wasatch SoftRIP Version 7.2 and above.

Installation

Wasatch G7 pressCurves is a Windows program. Download the following file to your computer. Then install the software by running the program. Be sure to check here for updates. This is version 1.2 released on August 15, 2015.

Directions

The Wasatch G7 Curves Conversion program does not take the place of Curve2 or Curve3 software. Please contact us if you need this software by CHROMiX.

This program only works with Wasatch SoftRIP.

• Run the Wasatch G7 Curves program by double-clicking on the icon.
• You must use CHROMiX Curve2 or Curve3 to create a CGATS file that encapsulates the changes required for G7 calibration.
• Click on the button: Open Curve CGATS file and select the file to convert from G7 CGATS format to the Wasatch format

• Click on the button: Build Wasatch File and choose where to save the Wasatch Press Curves converted file. The name of the file should be pressCurves with no suffix.
• The Wasatch Press curves file must be placed in the appropriate Wasatch Configuration directory. For example, if you are working in Wasatch 7.0 with an Epson F6070 with a printer configuration named "720 2_Pass" the directory will be something like this: C:\wwrip70\Configurations\epsonF6000\720 2_Pass.
• Now open Wasatch and go to the Calibration dialogue and click on the button: Press Curves. Once opened, you should see a graph with curves. If you do, click OK. Then save the print configuration.

Reflecting and Inverting the Curves: The "Standard" method is recommended for builing the G7 Press Curves. Two additional methods are also supported: reflect is the reflection of the curve with respect to the 45 degree baseline and invert which is reflection with respect to a -45 degree line. These methods are experimental and meant for experienced users.
