Variable Dot Settings for Dye Sublimation and High Density Ink
When using Onyx with Dye Sublimation Ink or very high density ink, the variable dot setting may need to be modified so that the print smoothly and effectively transitions from small to large dot sizes. The following are settings that you may want to test.

This is graph of the standard settings for variable dots.
This is a graph of a variable dot setting for high density ink. Note that the medium and large dots are brought into play much sooner than with the standard setting. This is required because high density inks, such as many dye sublimation inks, will achieve maximum chroma at less than 50% of the channel capacity. Without adjusting the variable dot settings the small dots will be favored and the larger dots may be absent entirely. In many textile applications this will result in loss of saturation in the shadow details.
